Theodore Hoerr is a licensed landscape architect and urban designer who has led the design and implementation of a diverse range of projects in North and South America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, ranging from large-scale urban strategies reshaping the future of cities to small-scale landscapes emphasizing the craft of building. His professional and academic work explores how the temporal dynamics of landscape create new emergent forms and experiences synthesizing culture, nature, and the built environment. He received his Masters in Urban Design with distinction (MLAUD) and Masters in Landscape Architecture (MLA II) from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Theodore currently teaches in the Department of Landscape Architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design.

He was most recently a Principal at Balmori Associates in New York City where he led the design of projects like a winning proposal for MoMA PS1’s Rockaway Call for Ideas in Queens, New York, mixed-used large scale urban projects in Bogota, Colombia, and Sao Paulo, Brazil, and an award-winning master plan for the University of Iowa Art Campus. Prior to this Theodore was a Senior Associate at EDAW/AECOM where he led the design of projects like the Arcapita Headquarters in Manama, Bahrain and the Umstead Hotel, in Cary, North Carolina and a designer at Richard Haag Associates in Seattle, Washington.
