Mr. Patterson received a degree in Earth Sciences – Geology in 1978 from Montana State University, and performed Masters studies in Geohydrology and Environmental Sciences at Indiana University in 1985. He worked for 14 years in private industry and the U.S. Government in coal exploration, coal mine reclamation, and hazardous waste remediation. Mr. Patterson then spent 7 years at the U.S. Yucca Mountain Nuclear Waste Repository Project (YMP) in charge of scientific site characterization studies, and has spent the last 16 years at the U.S. Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP), a repository for the deep geologic disposal of Intermediate Level defense-related nuclear waste, as a Program Manager for Performance Assessment and Regulatory Compliance.
