Rafael received a Master of Architecture from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is an adjunct professor at the Rhode Island School of Design since 2012.
Luna's current teachings focus on hybrid architecture as an adaptive reuse programming strategy for interior urbanism. His most current essay on interior architecture, “Life of a Shell and the Collective Memory of a City” appeared on volume 4 of the IntAR Journal. Rafael is the award winner of the Architectural League Prize 2013, and has professional experiences in many countries such as Japan (Toyo Ito), UK (KPF), France (Ateliers Jean Nouvel), and the US (Martha Schwartz Partners, dECOI, Sasaki Associates, and Machado and Silvetti).
PRAUD was founded in Boston as a design and research firm focused on understanding the effects of urban transformations and developing architectural responses through studies in Topology and Typology at various scales. Their architectural language has developed through a progressive methodology of contextual massing and structural systems. This holistic approach has lead them to explore the contemporary language in architecture as a critical approach to modernist systems and styles. Their work has been published and exhibited internationally.
