Q: What is the maximum file size for the submitted board?
A: 20 mb
Q: What time do all materials need to be submitted by on May 1st?
A: The deadline for materials to be submitted is 11:59 pm Eastern Standard Time (New York City) on May 1st.
Q: I thought this competition was called DWELL?
A: The RESIDE competition was previously called DWELL. While the title changed, all parts of the competition remain the same.
Q: Is the RESIDE competition restricted to only students or only professionals?
A: The competition is open to all designers, no matter age, location or experience.
Q: Where do I get my team number?
A: Your team's identification number is the order number that appears on the top right of the confirmation email upon registration. The confirmation is only sent to the email provided during the payment.
Q: How many team members can be involved in my project?
A: A maximum of four team members is permitted.
Q: Can I change team members after I register?
A: Teams are welcome to add, remove, or swap team members as long as their total members does not exceed 4. To do this please send your
request to info@archoutloud.com

Q: What is the deadline to register for the RESIDE competition?
A: Competition registry deadline is April 30th 2018 and the project submission deadline is May 1st 2018.
Q: Can teams share projects on social media in the period between the submission period and the announcement of the winners?
A: Projects may be shared once competition results are final. arch out loud will also publish each submission at this date and will be working with many design platforms to attract publication opportunities.
Q: Does the Arch D board have to be submitted in printed or digital form?
A: The Arch D board is only to be submitted in digital form at archoutloud.com/submit. The jury will not review any printed boards that are sent
to arch out loud.
Q: Can teams submit multiple design boards, or include more than 100 words in the design summary?
A: Each team may submit only (1) Arch D (24in x 36in or 60cm x 90cm) board, oriented landscape or portrait. A teams design summary must not exceed 100 words, but there is no limit to the amount of text allowed on a teams design board.
Q: Can a company logo be included on a board or text document?
A: Submission materials should not include any company logo or identification, boards may be disqualified if they include any information that identifies the participating team.
Q: Can arch out loud specify what kinds of media the jury is going to use during the evaluation of the projects - computer screen, projector, printouts and/or other?
A: The arch out loud jury will view projects digitally on large projector/TV screens, and printed files as necessary. The selection process will consist of two rounds.
Q: Should submissions use metric or imperial units, if they wish to show dimensions?
A: Either metric or imperial units may be used.
Q: Is there a maximum footprint?
A: There is not maximum square footage, however, designs should not be proposed outside of the site boundary.
Q: Are there setbacks from the property line?
A: For this concept endeavor, designs can be proposed up to the site boundary.
Q: How should the 100 word summary be formatted?
A: A 100 word PDF project summary should be submitted along with team board proposals, any additional text can be displayed within the board submission in whatever way a team choses.
Q: Does a date need to be included in the submission?
A: Teams do not need to include a date on their board or summary.
Q: What file types should be submitted?
A: Submit boards as jpeg files, submit text summaries as PDF.
Q: What file name should be given to to submission material?
A: Please name your files with your team order number, example: (12345678).
Q: Is there a height restriction?
A: There is no height restriction, as long as proposals are in the boundary of the site. Designers are encouraged to consider the surrounding conditions.
Q: What is the height difference between the contours in the competition site files?
A: The height difference between the contours is 2 feet or .61 meters.
Q: How many units are we supposed to propose in the site ?
A: In order to allow participants the freedom to propose what they think is the most appropriate, given the circumstances of the site, we intentionally did not mandate a number of units or a ratio. You can consider the floor space index article below, which is linked to the competition brief:

Q: Given the location of site, are we trying to relocate the existing people staying in koliwada or are we trying to create a mixed income housing program altogether with people coming there from different areas?
A: The competition asks participants to create a mixed-income housing program with people coming from different areas and maintaining places for people that currently exist on the site. Participants should not relocate people off the site but it is fine to relocate them within the given site area.
Q: Am I allowed to design one building or a planning which has many buildings?
A: It is up to you whether you think it is best to propose a singular building or a series of many buildings. You just have to make sure you are within the specified site area and following the guidelines of the brief.
Q: Which range will be submerged by the sea?
A: It is at your team's discretion to decide how much, if any, of your proposal will be in the water.
Q: What has been the highest flood level around the site?
A: To find information about flooding you can research the major Mumbai floods of 2005 and 2017.
Q: Below or south of the site's explicit boundary, how will this area be developed? What assumptions should we make regarding how the current and future residents of Worli Koliwada will move through this area between the site and the more affluent area south of Worli Koliwada?
A: Participants are to design based on the current conditions of the site but may use their discretion to project on future trends. We are not pushing designers in one particular direction about how this site will be developed.
Q: What are the current land uses on the site?
A: The existing buildings on the site are of different uses. Residential, Fishing, Religious, etc.
Q: What is the future land use of the site?
A: You can look at the draft for the Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Plan 2016-2036. In this report, they propose the land-use of the site to be an "urbanisable zone".
Q: Do you have any references of the sites elevation levels?
